I organized our events with my neighbors in an art collective called the Hiawatha Art Club. We created immersive art events where we would fill our building’s large Community Room with art, performance, or a pop-up market and then open up our apartments for our makeshift bar and music venue. With these events I would take on planning, organization, and marketing, as well as collaborating and delegating tasks.

The marketing strategy was to create a bulk of on-brand content that can be posted with a rapid and constant schedule to garner attention for the event with no marketing budget. We were successful and had the highest turnout of all our events.

A corresponding zine was created for each of our Hiawatha Art Club events. Collecting art, stories, and poetry from our community, I would art direct, curate, and design the layout. This issue’s cover had an illustration done by neighbor Chris Rollins, that we had risograph printed at Paper Punch Press.
